The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora was first mooted in the 1960s, and has since developed to become one of the most important and authoritative bodies in the regulation of trade in plant and wildlife products.
Worth billions of dollars annually, such trade inevitably occurs across international borders, and CITES is an agreement to which countries adhere voluntarily for the purposes of regulation, control and legalisation.
With 183 parties currently signed up to the agreement, invaluable work is being carried out to ensure the survival of endangered species and the continued functionality of our delicate ecosystem by preventing illegal and unscrupulous trade.
Oud Essentials wholeheartedly supports CITES and everything it is striving to achieve, and all the Oud used in our product range has full CITES approval and certification.
