DUAL-PHASE OIL

ANTI-AGEING OIL, FOR THE FACE

Oud Essentials Dual-Phase Oil is a subtle combination of water-based (aqueous) ingredients working in conjunction with an oil-based formulation to produce the best of both worlds – a smooth and yet penetrative oil that has a delightful aroma, is easy to apply, and extremely effective.

Although designed to be used together with Oud Essentials’ Regenerating Serum – whose effects it complements by ‘sealing’ it into the skin – it works extremely well on its own as part of a shorter regimen.

Ideally, it should be applied twice daily, in the morning and in the evening, two minutes before the application of the Regenerating Serum. Allow the oil between 30 seconds and one minute to ‘dry’, as a base for the maximum effectiveness of your skincare programme.

Oud Essentials’ Dual-Phase Oil is perfectly balanced and formulated to provide just the right amount of moisture to keep your skin hydrated, and its vitamin-rich composition is nourishing and enriching.

OudActive+™

OudActive+™ is the super-refined Oud oil extracted from the resinous heartwood of the Aquilaria tree – a species native to Southeast Asia and in massively high demand around the world.

The resin develops within the tree in response to a natural ‘infection’, and has been revered for thousands of years by countless cultures and civilisations for its medicinal and psychoactive properties.

This is the first time that Oud has been used in the cosmetics and skincare industries, as the world begins to recognise its extraordinary qualities and potential efficacy in the treatment of a variety of ailments and for an even wider variety of purposes. OudActive+™ is the quintessentially pure extraction of one of nature’s most prized ingredients.

High-grade Oud (also known as agarwood, aloeswood, gaharu and oudh) is one of the most expensive and highly-valued natural raw materials on the planet, and the ingredient is now being used in the Oud Essentials’ range of products. All our Oud is sustainably grown and ethically produced, with full CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) approval.

100% pure, OudActive+™ works in tandem with all the key constituent elements of the Dual-Phase Oil in a formula that is original, unique and compelling in its effectiveness.

Oud is anti-bacterial, anti-ischemic and anti-inflammatory, containing a wealth of antioxidants that complement the other Dual-Phase Oil core ingredients, ‘locking in’ the positive effects in the process.

Apricot Oil

Naturally rich in vitamins A and E, our Apricot Oil is 100% pure and made from organic apricot kernels. It can have a profound effect – revitalising and nourishing, particularly in the case of mature and/or dry skin.

Apricot Oil is rich in gamma linoleic acid (GLA) and is proven to be effective in erasing signs of fatigue, ‘plumping up’ wrinkles, and giving the skin firmness and tone. The oil is also anti-inflammatory and maintains moisture balance in the skin.

Jojoba Oil

A liquid wax from the seeds of the jojoba plant, Jojoba Oil is very similar in composition to human ‘sebum’ – an oily secretion of the sebaceous glands that helps lubricate the skin and hair in mammals. This quality makes it ideal for inclusion in skincare products and an indispensable ally of all skin types.

Jojoba Oil softens skin and prevents dehydration – revitalising ‘asphyxiated’ skin, and improving the complexion by reinforcing the skin’s hydrolipidic film and regulating the flow of natural sebum, particularly in oily skin. Healing and calming irritation, Jojoba Oil softens dry areas and regenerates skin cells, making it a vital component in the process of anti-ageing.

Vitamin E

Free radicals in the body (molecules that damage natural collagen and cause skin dryness and wrinkles) play a significant part in the ageing process, and Vitamin E is an antioxidant that neutralises the effect of those free radicals.

As an antioxidant, Vitamin E protects and repairs the skin, reducing the harmfulness of free radicals by capturing and stabilising them, while at the same time affording protection against ‘environmental stress’, such as harmful UV rays and pollution that can lead to cell mutation.

Vitamin E has become an essential part of a wide variety of skin treatments.

Grapeseed Oil

Found in a wide range of cosmetics such as creams, moisturisers, sunblocks, lotions and lip balms, Grapeseed Oil is used on the skin for its ‘emollient’ properties – to soften and soothe. Extracted from the seeds of grapes, as the name would suggest, the pure oil contains antioxidants that delay the ageing of skin by minimising the damage caused by free radicals.

Grapeseed Oil also provides protection against damage from the sun, and has astringent properties that can help tighten the skin. The linoleic acid in our Grapeseed Oil soothes and nourishes the skin, while the Vitamin E (mentioned above) keeps the skin firm and smooth. The oil is easily absorbed by the body and reduces age spots, sunburn, and wrinkles.

Borage Oil

Borage Oil (or Starflower Oil as it is also known) like our Apricot Oil is rich in the Omega 6 essential fatty acid GLA (gamma linoleic acid). GLA is proven to be effective in the treatment of skin disorders and for the maintenance of healthy skin and the fatty acid profile of Borage Oil is unique in that it contains between 20 and 24% GLA. Evening Primrose Oil, for example – a favourite in skincare-related essential oils – contains only 8 to 10% GLA.

Borage Oil helps in the prevention of several skin disorders, while significantly improving moisture, suppleness and smoothness.

Carthamus Oil

Also rich in Omega 6 essential fatty acids, Carthamus Oil – extracted from the safflower plant – improves the texture and quality of the skin due to its high levels of linoleic acid. It also acts as a lubricant, preventing water from leaving the skin, thereby ‘locking in’ moisture. It also promotes cell regeneration, reduces wrinkles, and improves skin elasticity to help produce a clear, smooth complexion.

Crambe Seed Oil

Naturally moisturising and nourishing, Crambe Seed Oil has been proven to be an excellent, natural alternative to using silicones as an ingredient in cosmetics and skincare products.

Extracted from the oilseed crop Crambe abyssinica, it is a pure vegetable oil containing high levels of erucic acid (a monounsaturated Omega 9 fatty acid that strengthens the lipid barrier of the epidermis in dry skin, prevents the loss of water, and normalises the skin metabolism).

Sweet Almond Oil

Extracted from raw almonds, our Sweet Almond Oil owes its benefits to generous amounts of monounsaturated fatty acids, and is rich in vitamins A, E, B1, B2 and B6, which have the benefits of firming up the skin and making wrinkles less visible. They also protect against harmful UV rays and other forms of ‘environmental stress’.

Sweet Almond Oil also contains potassium, proteins, zinc, and a number of other minerals, and is easily absorbable, adding moisture to the skin and cleaning the pores in the process.

Main Active Ingredients – The Water Phase

Ginseng Extract

Ginseng has long been promoted as a treatment for anti-ageing, as it contains a large number of phytonutrients that can stimulate, activate and balance the skin’s metabolism. Ginseng rids the skin of the free radicals that accumulate due to regular exposure to sunlight and environmental pollution, and contains elements that can increase the production of collagen in the middle layer of the skin – known as the ‘dermis’ – thereby firming the skin. The collagen also improves the tone and elasticity, reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Ginseng is also a great toner and facial freshener, not only helping in the process of collagen formation, but also in the reduction of facial blemishes.

Hyaluronic Acid-BT

Hyaluronic Acid is a biotechnological extract obtained by fermentation from substrates exclusively of plant origin, with microorganisms carrying out the biosynthesis. It is widely used in cosmetic applications around the world for its ability to contribute to cell proliferation and migration.

Heavily involved in tissue repair, it also protects against free-radical damage to cells – the toxic molecules that are one of the main contributors to the appearance of ageing.

The main function of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in the epidermis is to maintain the extracellular space and provide an open (as well as hydrated) structure for the passage of nutrients.

An increase of HA content in the skin leads to heightened levels of Retinoic Acid (a metabolite of Retinol – Vitamin A) which prevents skin photo-damage and ageing, and gives rise to an increase in tissue hydration.

Due to its high molecular weight, HA maintains the optimum level of hydration on the surface of the skin.

Sodium Chloride

Sodium Chloride, or ‘salt’ as it is commonly known is used to adjust the surface tension of water in the water phase, giving clarity to the product after it is shaken and separates.

Argireline Solution C

Argireline® peptide solution is the first anti-wrinkle hexapeptide with a Botulinum Toxin-like mechanism of action. Peptides are chains of amino acids that affect how the cells in the human body, and Argireline® reduces the depth of wrinkles on the face that are caused by the contraction of muscles – particularly around the eyes and on the forehead.

Peptides have the ability to ‘direct’ skin cells, to produce more collagen, for example. Applied topically, in the case of Oud Essentials’ Regenerating Serum, they modify the biochemistry involved in the contraction of facial muscles, thereby reducing the force of the contractions that lead to or exacerbate wrinkles.

To prove the effects of Argireline®, Lipotec (the supplier) conducted a study among a group of volunteers using a 5% Argireline cream for 30 days. After 15 days of continuous use, the wrinkles on the contours of the eyes decreased by 17%, and after 30 days, wrinkles and fine lines decreased by 27%.

Among the many advantages of Argireline is that it is applied in a topical solution, so it is non-invasive, not orally toxic, and does not cause skin irritation – even at high doses.

Saccharomyces Ferments

Saccharomyces is a family of fungi, and when fermented aids the skin’s cellular renewal. The natural process of fermentation leads to the secretion of enzymes that are beneficial to the human body, forming amino acids (such as glycine), vitamins, and the all-important antioxidants that break down free radicals and protect and moisturise the skin.

Relatively new to the world of skincare, Saccharomyces Ferments also encourage the production of collagen; toning, moisturising and revitalising the complexion.

Applications and Guidelines

We recommend that our Dual-Phase Oil is applied twice a day – in the morning and in the evening – as part of the continuous Oud Essentials skincare programme.

Shake the oil vigorously to ensure that there is no separation, and apply three drops to the forehead, two each to the cheek/side of the face, and one on the neck.

Rub gently and evenly until almost dry; leave for between one and two minutes, before applying the Oud Essentials Regenerating Serum.

Take care when applying to the sensitive areas around the eyes.

Benefits

The Oud Essentials range is the world’s first in utilising the remarkable properties of Oud oil – also referred to as ‘liquid gold’. The vitamins and amino acids it contains boost the production of collagen, while at the same time aiding in the process of hydrating and moisturising the skin. Antioxidants help to eliminate harmful free radicals, contributing to healthy, firm skin, and an overall sense of physical and spiritual wellbeing.

REGENERATING SERUM

ANTI-AGEING, ANTI WRINKLE FACE SERUM

Oud Essentials’ Regenerating Serum gets right to the heart of the matter – with quick absorption by the skin leading to an immediate reaction that stimulates the optimal functioning of the cells.

Our Regenerating Serum is designed for use on the entire face, with special attention paid to the areas in and around the eyes – where wrinkles can be at their most prevalent – and gives those all-important active ingredients direct access in addressing your skincare issues.

Serums, as opposed to creams, contain small molecules that are penetrative and easily absorbable, nourishing the inner layer of the skin. While our Regenerating Serum is moisturising in itself, we recommend that you use it in conjunction with a moisturiser and our dual-phase oil for the optimal skincare regimen, as it will ‘seal’ in the beneficial effects for long-lasting results.

We recommend that you use your Regenerating Serum twice a day – after cleansing, and before moisturising – once in the morning, and once late at night, allowing the activation of collagen production while you sleep.

With the help of our expertly formulated active ingredients, your Regenerating Serum will improve the luminosity of your complexion, increasing skin elasticity, and get to work on any pigment disorders you may have. In young skin, it helps in the process of hydration, and in older skin reduces and/or prevents wrinkles.

Oud Essentials Regenerating Serum revitalises, restructures, smoothes and regenerates, and is an essential part of the ultimate fitness programme for your skin.

Prolevis LQ-(WD)

Prolevis™ is a new, high molecular protein hydrolysate with film-forming properties that smooth visible skin surface wrinkles and imperfections, instantly, making it ideal for a variety of anti-ageing skincare applications.

A high molecular weight protein, Prolevis™ is exceptionally effective in enveloping the skin, instantly smoothing and tightening, supplementing the nutrients that are required in the anti-ageing process. As skin ages, it loses the ability to produce a sufficient amount of collagen, which results in fine lines and wrinkles. Prolevis™ addresses these issues quickly and effectively and is an integral part of the Oud Essentials Regenerating Serum.

Visible Effects After Several Days

A noticeable reduction in wrinkles and fine lines – by up to 84%

The stimulated production of collagen to help ‘plump up’ the skin – by up to 95%

The minimisation of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes – by up to 73%

Argireline Solution C

Argireline® peptide solution is the first anti-wrinkle hexapeptide with a Botulinum Toxin-like mechanism of action. The combination of Argireline® and Prolevis™ is proven to be effective on all skin types, and on all characteristics of the face.

While many skincare products on the market today can claim a degree of short-term effectiveness, Oud Essentials’ Regenerating Serum strives to go beyond the ephemeral, to achieve substantive, and long-lasting results.

It is highly recommended that the Oud Essentials Regenerating Serum is used as part of a skincare regime that includes the Oud Essentials Dual-phase Oil.

Sensitivity in and around the eyes can be experienced, and while it is uncommon, care should always be taken when applying products.

EYE SERUM

SKIN TIGHTENING, SKIN LIFTING, ANTI-WRINKLE EYE SERUM

The perfect combination of technology and nature working hand in hand, the Oud Essentials Eye Serum contains a wide range of active ingredients designed to lift and tighten the skin around the eyes. It is easily absorbed, and will have an immediate effect, while continuous use will yield significant and long-lasting results.

The skin in the area immediately around the eyes is 80% thinner than the skin in the rest of our bodies, and as such, with the stress of our daily lives, it is no surprise that this is the place that can register the worst levels of ‘damage’ – often leading to wrinkles, fine lines and ‘crow’s feet’. Dark circles and puffiness can also be the results of pollution, exposure to UV rays and lack of sleep.

Our Eye Serum works on the micro-structure around the eyes, minimising wrinkles and smoothening the skin, while at the same time moisturising, and stimulating the optimal functioning of the cells.

The area around the eyes is often the most active on our faces – it moves when we smile, frown, squint and even sleep – and it is prone to dryness. Oud Essentials’ Eye Serum, with its moisturising effect, speeds up skin cell metabolism, thereby producing more moisture and replacing the naturally-occurring elastin and collagen that keep the skin firm.

Serums, as opposed to creams, contain small molecules that are penetrative and easily absorbable, nourishing the inner layer of the skin. While our Eye Serum is moisturising in itself, we recommend that you use it in conjunction with a moisturiser and our Dual-Phase Oil for the optimal skincare regimen, as it will ‘seal’ in the beneficial effects for long-lasting results.

We recommend that you use your Eye Serum twice a day – after cleansing, and before moisturising – once in the morning, and once late at night.

Crodarom Green Coffee

A shining example of ‘creative chemistry’, Crodarom Green Coffee is a concentrated plant extract made from non-fermented coffee seeds. It stimulates and energises the skin, and is used in anti-cellulite preparations as well as UVB absorption in sun care products.

With a high concentration of essential fatty acids, Vitamin E, and sterols, Crodarom Green Coffee is anti-inflammatory and a powerful antioxidant for the protection of skin, particularly against harmful UV rays and pollutants.

It improves skin elasticity and resilience, restores moisture and supports the structure of the skin for a brighter, more youthful appearance.

Sweet Orange Oil

One of the world’s most popular essential oils, Sweet Orange Oil is cold pressed from the outer peel of the orange and has a delightful smell much sought after in the world of aromatherapy.

Sweet Orange Oil is known to fight the signs of ageing when applied to the skin, and its astringent properties are efficacious in improving oily skin and acne.

It is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antimicrobial, and has a high level of Vitamin C that protects and heals the skin, while also promoting the production of collagen that prevents wrinkles and pigmentation.

One of the most prominent active ingredients in Sweet Orange oil is the powerful antioxidant limonene, which is effective in the fight against free radicals damage and inflammation.

Butcher’s Broom Extract

Also known as ‘knee holly’ because of the size the shrub from which the extract is derived, the main benefit of Butcher’s Broom Extract is vascular health, but it is also extremely effective in reducing the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.

It reduces the size of pores, which makes the skin appear smoother, and is ideal for sensitive skin types as is not linked with any type of irritation. It improves skin tone and reduces puffiness around the eyes.

ACB Bio Chelate 5 PF

Consisting of five fermented, essential minerals – zinc, iron, silicon, copper and magnesium – ACB Bio Chelate is a bio-active material that is instantly recognisable to the skin. The fermented minerals produce a range of benefits including enhanced barrier function, decreased stress-related factors and increased cellular energy production.

Fermentation enhances bioavailability, allowing for easy absorption into the body, and helping in the functions of protein synthesis and cellular metabolism, thereby promoting conditioning and the nourishing of skin.

LIFTONIN®-XPRESS

Made from sustainable raw materials such as cellulose derivatives, LIFTONIN-XPRESS provides an immediate and long-lasting tightening and lifting active ingredient that both smoothens the skin and minimises wrinkles.

It is particularly effective for the areas around the eyes, by improving the micro-structure and tightening the skin instantly.

Based on the development of edible film used in the food industry, LIFTONIN-XPRESS works on both large and small wrinkles, and has been acclaimed as one of the most innovative and effective products on the market today.

Applications and Guidelines

We recommend that our Eye Serum is applied twice a day – in the morning and in the evening – as part of the continuous Oud Essentials skincare programme.

After cleansing, apply a drop to the area around each eye using your ‘ring’ finger – as this will produce the least amount of pressure to a delicate skin area. Pat gently with the ring fingers of each hand to the areas that require attention, and allow the serum to be absorbed.

If the serum is absorbed instantly, this probably means that your skin is dry, and more serum will be required.

Take care when applying to the sensitive areas around the eyes.

Biofunctional Plankton Extract

Extracted from a uniquely resilient plankton, this biofunctional extract works to boost cellular energy metabolism and shield skin from external stimuli. Rich in nucleotides – compounds that form the subunits of nucleic acids such as DNA – nucleotides protect the skin against environmental shocks and limit the appearance of skin damage. They also protect the skin from the harmful effects of infrared and ultraviolet radiation, and defend against the appearance of prematurely ageing skin.

Biomimetic Peptides

Peptides are short chains of amino acids present, naturally, in the body, and are biologically important compounds. Biomimetic peptides, as the name would suggest, have been crafted to imitate the effects of those compounds, and enable better ‘communication’ between the dermis and epidermis – two of the three layers in the human skin.

Oud Blanc’s biomimetic peptides reduce skin pigmentation with a unique action that inhibits the production of melanin (the pigment that gives human hair, eyes and skin their colour) by using liposomes – microscopic particles that form membranes that in turn allow the absorption of nutrients and compounds.

Clinical studies have demonstrated significant lightening efficacy in as short a period as four weeks.

Tranexamic Acid

Discovered in 1962, tranexamic acid is on the WHO’s List of Essential Medicines, and when applied topically is extremely effective in treating skin pigmentation – especially melasma (tan or dark skin discolouration produced by the production of the melanin pigments).

Tranexamic acid has anti-inflammatory properties that have proven to be efficacious in helping to reduce the hyperpigmentation that can occur following acne

Niacinamide
Part of the vitamin B family, niacinamide is also on the WHO’s List of Essential Medicines, and supports skin lightening through a different pathway compared to conventional ‘whitening’ agents.

It has properties that boost collagen, thereby helping to minimise the appearance of pores and smoothen the skin. Enhancing the skin’s ability to reflect light leads to a brighter more radiant complexion.

Directions: Apply an adequate amount of cream, and massage gently into skin until fully absorbed.
